CT Transplant Preclinical Laboratory
The CT Transplant Preclinical Laboratory is directed Dr. Norihisa Shigemura, MD, PhD. The ultimate goal of the laboratory is to develop new strategies to improve thoracic transplant outcomes. The laboratory members maintain academic relationships with clinical transplant physicians, collaborators and colleagues throughout the scientific community. The use of therapeutic gases (hydrogen and carbon monoxide) to ameliorate ischemia/ reperfusion injury during transplant and ventilator-induced lung injury and the mechanisms underlying these protective effects are a major research focus.
