Genomics and Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation

Full Title

Genomics and Postoperative Atrial Fibrillation

Purpose of Study

The focus of this pilot study is to find out if a similar association between the -174 G/C polymorphism and postoperative atrial fibrillation exists in our CABG patient population

Specific Aims: 1) To ascertain a plausible association between a single nucleotide polymorphism: -174 G/C of the interleukin 6 gene and postoperative Atrial fibrillation in Coronary artery bypass
2) To ascertain a plausible association of the above said polymorphism to other post-operative adverse events including renal and pulmonary complications during the postoperative period.
